A rewarding experience: Objectives and achievements in Hungary

I was assigned to be the company’s representative in Hungary in 2020, where I had to negotiate and decide the best terms for the agreement to export Hungarian barrels to Mexico. This was a challenging and rewarding experience that involved a lot of preparation and communication. Some of the objectives that I had to achieve during the trip were:

• To learn about the Hungarian barrel industry, its history, quality, and standards. I visited multiple suppliers and factories to see how they produce and store their barrels. I also learned about the diverse types of wood, such as French oak, American oak, and Hungarian oak, and how they affect the flavor and aroma of the wine.
• To establish a rapport with the Hungarian barrel suppliers and understand their needs and expectations. I met with several representatives from different companies and discussed their products, services, and prices. I also exchanged cultural and personal information to build trust and friendship.
• To compare and evaluate diverse types of barrels, such as oak wood from France and America, with different models, sizes, and toasting levels. I used a catalog from Tauber Barrels to see the specifications and features of each barrel. I also sampled some wines that were aged in different barrels to taste the difference.
• To negotiate the price, quantity, delivery time, and payment methods for the barrels. I used my knowledge of the market and the industry to propose a fair and reasonable offer that would benefit both parties. I also considered the logistics and transportation costs of shipping the barrels from Hungary to Mexico.
• To finalize the agreement in a win-win solution that satisfied both parties and created a long-term partnership. I signed a contract with Tauber Barrels that stipulated the terms and conditions of the deal. I also expressed my gratitude and appreciation for their cooperation and hospitality.
